It is one of the most powerful words in any language. It has inspired revolutions throughout the ages. Yet, its precise meaning is ambiguous!
At its core, freedom is the oxygen of self-expression. It is one of the most indomitable forces of the human spirit, which is why, ultimately, freedom prevails.
In Judaism, there is a fundamental qualification to freedom. It does not only give freedom a sense of purpose and direction; it provides the boundary that ensures the truest, most authentic self-expression.
At our core, each of us is aligned with a unifying spirit. True self-expression can only be achieved if it is infused with this transcendent force. It is the fusion of "E pluribus unum"- out of many, one.
