Bechukotai: Positive Energy: Overcoming The Greatest Odds!

Everything we observe in the world around us is in fact a direct personal message from the Divine.

An extraordinary success story that has recently captured the imagination of many has been Tottenham Hotspur’s reaching the Champions League Final. There are many football clubs in Europe that arguably posses greater talent and tactical skill, yet somehow it was this team that have persisted all the way to the final of this competition.

When asked how he managed to inspire his team to achieve such success, the manager, Mauricio Pochettino responded that it was his belief in a vital invisible force called “energia universal”. 

That “all decisions, personal relationships and absolutely everything else are a matter of energy”, either good or bad. It was the focus on creating a good energy that was the underlying force in building a team that would go all the way.

We all know of the importance of positive energy. Yet sometimes we are not aware of the subtle infiltration of negative forces that slowly erodes all that is good.

Carbon Monoxide is colorless, tasteless, and odorless. Because of which it is referred to as a “silent killer”. Negative energy can be seriously destructive, yet sometimes it is very difficult to detect.

In the first chapter of the Tanya the first Lubavitcher Rebbe enumerates the distinguishing characteristics of the “Animal Soul”, the fountainhead of all negative energy.

At its core is a perception of self that transcends and negates all else. Its primary drive therefore is self preservation and indulgence. 

It manifests itself through its main character traits: 

Anger: The resistance to anything that challenges one’s ego.

Arrogance: An exaggerated sense of one’s worth thereby diminishing the value of others.

Indulgence: Pleasure for its own sake devoid of any guidance or purpose. 

Frivolity: Not taking life seriously which results in being irresponsible.

Melancholy: A feeling of pensive sadness with no obvious cause.

Our purpose in life is to detox ourselves from all this negative energy which obstructs the expression of our inner powerful light that shines away all darkness. 

This energy is a most powerful positive force that enables synergies, inspires hope and can overcome even the greatest odds!
